The edgy British magazine; VICE published an article that I came across recently. I found it to be pretty interesting despite the sketchiness. Essentially, the article is discussing the technology that is currently being developed for 3D printers and the implications that this has for future drugs. Blueprints and software that will send the messages to the printer and will generate a customized drug for the user. The article speaks of recreational drugs at first, but then broadens the discussion to include pharmaceuticals and drugs that used for medical purposes.
Professor Lee Cronin: “I’m creating a biological time machine to work out what disease you are going to get as a function of nature plus nurture—and then create the drug to cure it.”
